Tired of sitting at yet another conference, doing nothing but listening for hours on end?

We are too.

The truth is that there are great, knowledgeable professionals working on improving our education and workforce systems in communities across the nation. Sadly, most of us don’t often get the opportunity to hear them speak—much less have open, frank conversations with them. Worse, business leaders, superintendents, teachers, professors, and other community leaders rarely get the opportunity to carve time out of their calendar to just sit down and discuss how they can work together to provide an excellent education for our next generation of leaders. 

The Institute for a Competitive Workforce intends to do something about that. 

This fall, we’re hitting the road to host our first ever Business LEADs Network Regional Retreats in four cities across the United States. Business leaders will have the opportunity to invite local education officials, teachers, and other community civic leaders to join them in charting a course to a better education system. Retreat attendees will be broken into small groups with teams from other communities where discussion will be facilitated on a range on education and workforce topics. At the end of the day, team strategy and planning sessions give attendees the opportunity to work directly with each other in a neutral setting.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to brainstorm new ideas, share your local experiences, and discuss important education and workforce issues with both your peers from across the region and with colleagues from your community! Corporate or chamber of commerce representatives will have the opportunity to register their teams of three to eight people—including at least one representative from a non-profit, university, municipality, or a school district—to take part in the retreat. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis until we reach capacity for each site.

ICW will cover airfare and hotel expenses for all participants. The Palm Springs Regional Retreat will be held at the La Quinta Resort & Club, located at 49-499 Eisenhower Drive, La Quinta, CA. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. and the event will end at 4:00 p.m.
