Are We There Yet? Race to the Top in 2011
SOLD OUT
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act flooded $100 billion dollars into states to assist with budget shortfalls and to reshape education by leveraging federal resources to prompt change at the state and local levels. Five billion dollars of these funds were set aside for the purpose of spurring states, districts, and non-profits to make bold policy changes and develop innovative approaches to improving education.
This event provided an up-to-date status check on Race to the Top, including Race to the Top assessments and School Improvement Grants. Panelists highlighted major successes, as well as key concerns since the funds were awarded last year.
Below are some thoughts on the status of Race to the Top in 2011 from speakers at the event.
